Korda shared a video demonstrating this drill, which focuses on maintaining control and tempo. The setup involves placing a second ball a few inches behind the one you intend to hit. As you start your takeaway, you gently push the second ball back a few inches using the back of your club.

According to TJ Yeaton, a highly regarded instructor, this exercise emphasizes a low and steady takeaway. “The purpose is to keep the clubhead low and slow,” Yeaton explains. “It’s especially helpful for players who rush their takeaway or lift the clubhead too quickly early in the backswing.”

If you struggle with starting your swing too fast or pulling the club inside too early, this drill could be the key to improving your tempo and consistency. Give it a try and see how it enhances your rhythm and overall swing mechanics.
